[October Session] Nabekura Highlands Science Club

Learn science in the forest of Nabekura!

The October session of the Nabekura Highlands Science Club is here!
This month’s theme: Mushrooms 🍄

Autumn forests come alive with mushrooms of all shapes and sizes — some larger than your hand, others smaller than a matchstick!
Though often overlooked, mushrooms are the quiet heroes of the forest, playing an essential role in keeping the ecosystem healthy and balanced.

This outdoor science program values children’s natural curiosity — their “Why?” — and helps them develop the ability to observe, question, and explore through hands-on learning.

The forest is full of wonders!
By seeing, touching, and thinking in nature, children learn to view the world through a scientific lens.
Each session encourages kids to discover answers on their own — observing, hypothesizing, testing, and summarizing their findings.

Example themes include:

  • “Let’s find different kinds of seeds!”

  • “Observing microorganisms in the forest!”

Sometimes, the day’s theme may change depending on the children’s interests or the discoveries they make in the field.

It’s not about “studying” — it’s about wanting to learn because it’s fun!
Come and experience the joy of scientific discovery in the forests of Nabekura Highlands!

One parent or guardian per child may join for free as a companion.
If not participating, guardians may wait in the facility lobby during the class.
