Nestled among the mountains of Iiyama, Lake Hokuryuko (北竜湖) comes alive this spring with the Canoe Matsuri — a 12-day paddling festival welcoming everyone from first-timers to families. No reservation needed, no time limit, and everything you need is included. Just show up and paddle!

Getting There
From the Toyoda-Iiyama IC (Joshinetsu Expressway), head toward Nozawa Onsen on Route 117. Turn right at the Lawson convenience store in Mizuho. Continue straight through the “Kosuge Hokuryuko-iriguchi” intersection and follow the road to the lake.
