Born from the passion of local youth who believed “snow is not a burden—it’s a treasure,”
the Iiyama Snow Festival celebrates its 43rd anniversary in 2026.
Across the entire city, visitors can enjoy massive snow sculptures, snow lanterns, winter activities, delicious local food, photo contests, and a lively festival atmosphere.
With visitors arriving not only from the region but from all over Japan via highway and Shinkansen, the festival has grown into a signature winter event that brings the whole city together.
